- About the size of a basketball and only made beeps
- People feared that atomic weapons would soon be delivered without airplanes
- This gave the USSR an upper hand and they began to demand concesssions

SUMMARY :
Rockets are becoming more advanced as countries desire nuclear superiority. Space program created to show how the Americans are more educated and scientifically advanced, soviets launch Sputnik which scared Americans. Soviets start beating Americans in this regard as they launch the first man woman and animal into space. Eventually Americans put first man on the moon. Abundance of technology came from this, including rockets.
