- After he fled he began to rebuild the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
- Mao built party on the peasantry (no urban workers to deal with)
- Chiang fought hard to rid the CCP from their stronghold even as the Japanese began to invade Manchuria
- CCP fought guerrilla warfare
SUMMARY :
Mao took over country in 1949. Founder of CCP, and he built on the peasantry so lots of his support was from the country side. Mao fought the Japanese where as Chiang fought Mao. The event that allowed the communist party to survive was the Long march.
