The Berlin Airlift was established once the Soviets blocked the railways and roads of the Western allies. The Airlift was created to carry supplies (fuel ect...) across the wall. Another thing was the Marshall Plan that was created by the US specifically for European countries. Money was put into countries that had been effected by WWII and for those that could potentially follow the Communist ways. The States wanted to prove that the capitalist way ways the best way.

The cuban missile crisis most likely played a key roll in the assassination of Kennedy. The cuban missile crisis was one of the closest wars that almost lead to a full on nuclear war. It was over the fact that the Soviet Union had deployed missiles in Cuba. The bay of pigs invasion by the US failed embarrassing Kennedy and causing people to say he was to young to make decisions is such situations. To stop the Soviets from bring more missiles into Cuba the US started a blockade. This could have potentially enraged the soviets to the extent of plotting an assassination.
The USA attempted to stop the spread of Communism throughout 1950's by the Marshall plan. This plan was set up to help give money to those countries that need it to help rebuild infrastructure and the economy back up. The United States did this to show those countries that capitalism which the United States followed is the right and best way to follow, instead of being communist like the USSR. Which is why the USSR refused the money the US was offering.
